#1. Ho Chi Minh Korean Barbershops by Region Summary and Reviews
There are dozens of Korean barbershops in downtown Ho Chi Minh City, and they are mostly concentrated in three areas: District Tan Binh near the airport, District 1, where the center of Ho Chi Minh City, and District 7, where many Koreans live. The service is generally the same, but there are slight differences depending on the area.
First of all, District Tan Binh has a few barbershops in an area called the old Korean town. It is now demolished, but it is also called Super Bowl after the name of a nearby building. You can get service for a cheap price of 300,000VND including tip. There is a disadvantage that you have to get service in an old facility that is over 10 years old, but the care skills of the staff are the best among the three areas.

There is a Korean international school in District 7, and many Koreans currently reside there. As such, there are many Korean barbershops. District 1 of Ho Chi Minh City is an area where barbershops started opening relatively late compared to other areas. Before COVID-19, there were only two, Emperor and Galaxy, but after COVID-19, the number increased rapidly, and there are now close to 20 Korean barbershops. Recently, the number of barbershops run by Chinese people has also increased, so competition is expected to become fierce. The service price is around 400,000 to 600,000VND, and it has the best facilities among the three areas, but many barbershops are not properly managed, so you need to choose carefully.

#2. Korean Barbershop Service
There may be some differences depending on the barbershop, but most of them offer the same order of services. Famous barbershops are always crowded, so it is recommended to call and make a reservation at least a few hours in advance.
You sit in the waiting room/lobby on the first floor and decide what kind of service you want while drinking the iced tea they offer. Usually, there are 60 minute and 90 minute services, and you can choose between a regular room and a VIP room. There is also a four-hand service where you are served by two staff.
If you have chosen a service, follow the staff to the care room(or massage room) on the upper floor. You can choose from a variety of care services included in the course and the intensity of the massage. The general order is foot washing -> facial massage -> cucumber pack -> ear cleaning -> fingernail and toenail trimming -> leg and arm massage.
After receiving care in the massage room, you will move to the shampoo room to receive a back massage and shampoo service. If you have a bad back and cannot receive a back massage, you can tell staff in advance so that you can receive other services more.
After receiving the shampoo service and drying your hair, you can go to the waiting room and finish the service by drinking iced tea or other beverages. Nowadays, more and more barbershops are installing refrigerators and providing soft drinks or coconuts in addition to iced tea.
In the case of Amun Barbershop, they provide boiled eggs after the service is finished. As the number of barbershops increases, the quality of service seems to be improving due to competition, so it seems like a welcome thing for customers.
#3. Recommended Korean Barbershops
Among District Tan Binh, District 1, and District 7, I personally visit the barbershops in District 1 more often. There is not much difference in price range, but District 1 is the most expensive among the three areas. However, since most of them have been open for a short time, the facilities are clean and well-maintained, and the service is excellent. The four barbershops mentioned below are places that I highly recommend.
1) AMUN Barbershop
This barbershop opened two years ago, and the facilities are very clean and the staff is well-trained, so I am always very satisfied every time I visit. It costs 500,000VND for a 90 minute service, which is a bit higher than other barbershops in the area, but I don’t feel it was a waste at all. This barbershop was the first in Ho Chi Minh to introduce a system where you can choose a drink from the refrigerator such as soft drinks, and fresh coconut, and they even serve eggs after the service. I personally think this is the number one barbershop in Ho Chi Minh.
2) VIP Barbershop
This is also a barbershop that has been open for about 2 years, and like Amun Barbershop, it costs 500,000VND for 90 minutes of service. It offers excellent service that is not inferior to Amun Barbershop, and the interior of the service room is even better than Amun Barbershop. It has the great advantage of being able to receive service quietly because it can accommodate up to 3 customers in one room.
3) EMPEROR VIP Barbershop
This is one of the oldest barbershops in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. It has been in business since before COVID, and the interior is quite luxurious, and you can receive the classic service that you think of when you think of a barbershop. It is a place with great value for money, at 400,000VND for a 90 minute service.
4) ROYAL Barbershop
It opened around the time when Corona was calming down, and it has a similar overall feel to the Emperor Barbershop. Just like the Emperor VIP Barbershop, it costs 400,000VND for a 90 minute service. Since they manage their staff well, there is not much difference in the quality of service between each staff member, so it is one of barbershops that you can visit with confidence in District 1.
