#1. District Binh Thanh, Local Duck Noodles Luong Ky Mi Gia Review
Local duck noodles restaurant Luong Ky Mi Gia is located near Pham Viet Chanh Street, called Little Tokyo, in District Binh Thanh, Ho Chi Minh City. It is a popular local restaurant not only among locals living nearby, but also among foreigners, and when you visit during meal times, the store is always packed with customers.
I visited after 6pm to dine alone on a Monday evening, but it was already packed with customers and there were no empty seats. But there can take a sit with people who don't know, and the turnover rate is high, so we were able to get a seat right away without waiting for less than a minute.
They serve drinks include Tra Da(Iced Tea), Nuoc Sam(Vietnamese Tea), Coca Cola, Tiger Beer, and bottled water. I ordered a coke, and they gave me a refrigerated cold coke and plastic cup filled with and ice. If you are new to Vietnam, you may want to avoid drinking something in a cup of ice as it may upset your stomach.
The first dish I ordered, Ha Cao(Shrimp Dumplings), came out first. The shrimp meat balls are wrapped in a chewy dumpling skin, and although the quality is lower than that of dimsum restaurants, it is surprisingly delicious at a low price and is worth ordering. It tastes pretty good when dipped in the chili sauce that comes with it.
The second dish I ordered was Mi Vit Tiem(Duck Noodles). A whole chunk of duck leg is placed on top of the noodles. The duck meat is simmered in broth and is very tender and delicious from skin to flesh without any unpleasant odor. Just dip it in the hoisin sauce that comes with it and eat it.
Underneath the duck leg, there are egg noodles and bok choy in a broth made by boiling duck and various medicinal herbs. The broth tastes like samgyetang broth with a little soy sauce and sugar, and is sweet, salty and savory. The noodles are soft and chewy and have a mild taste that won't disappoint our tastes.
Luong Ky Mi Gia is a local restaurant that serves delicious duck noodles and ha cao(shrimp dimsum) at a reasonable price. It is definitely worth a visit for those living nearby.
#2. Local Duck Noodles Luong Ky Mi Gia Menu
The menu at local duck noodles restaurant Luong Ky Mi Gia is a restaurant with many foreign customers, so it is not difficult to order as it has good explanations in English and pictures. If you are not sure, try the restaurant's signature duck noodles DAC BIET(SPECIAL) or Mi Vit Tiem(Duck Noodles), both are same menu. The price of the signature menu is a bit high for a local restaurant, but the chunks of duck leg on top of the noodles make you think it's worth it.
I visited on a Monday evening to dine alone and ordered the following.
Mi Vit Tiem(Duck Noodles): 108,000VND
Ha Cao(Shrimp Dumplings): 24,000VND
Coca Cola: 20,000VND
Wet Tissue: 4,000VND
In total, I was able to eat a proper meal for a reasonable amount of 156,000VND. The price is a bit high for a local restaurant, but the soft duck meat was plentiful and the taste was good, so I was quite satisfied. Luong Ky Mi Gia is a duck noodles restaurant that's definitely worth a visit if you live nearby.
