District Binh Thanh, Hanoi-style Rice Noodles Pho Loi Review(2024.09)

#1. District Binh Thanh, Hanoi-style Rice Noodles Pho Loi Review

Pho Loi, a rice noodle restaurant, is located on the ground floor of Sunwah Pearl Golden House, District Binh Thanh, Ho Chi Minh City. Since there are no proper Hanoi-style pho restaurants in this area, this place, where you can taste high quality Hanoi-style rice noodles in a neat restaurant at a reasonable price, is all the more attractive.

Even though this restaurant opened not long ago, it is quite crowded during meal times and there is almost no empty seats. However, when I visited after 9pm on a Friday night, I could only see a few tables of customers.

The Bap Pho(Rare Beef Shank Pho) that my wife ordered came out first. Many people know Tai Pho(Rare Beef Loin Pho) as a representative rice noodle with raw meat, but rice noodles with Bap(Rare Beef Shank), which has a light yet chewy texture, are also quite delicious.

This was followed by my order of Dac Biet Pho(Special Pho). There is no difference in broth or noodles from other rice noodles, but the taste and texture are much more diverse because it contains various meat parts such as raw loin, raw shank, shank, and brisket.

Like Hanoi-style rice noodles, the beef is cooked thoroughly and the rich broth with a savory and deep flavor is really delicious. It is nice to eat as is without adding anything, but you can enjoy it even more deliciously by adding herbs such as Thai basil, culantro, bean sprouts, lime juice, chili sauce, pickled garlic, and pepper to suit your taste.

Pho Loi lacks the impact to compare with other famous pho restaurants in Ho Chi Minh City such as Pho Viet Nam and Pho Hoa Pasteur. However, as a restaurant where you can taste authentic Hanoi-style pho, and it can be said to be the place that serves the most delicious pho in the area where luxury apartment complex in District Binh Thanh, such as Sunwah Pearl, Saigon Pearl, Manor, and Vinhomes.

My wife and I visited on a Friday evening and ordered the meal below.

  1. Bap Pho(Rare Beef Shank Pho): 70,000VND

  2. Dac Biet Pho(Special Pho): 90,000VND

  3. Tra Da(Iced Tea): 3,000VND x 2 EA = 6,000VND

  4. Wet Wipes: 2,000VND x 2 EA = 4,000VND

For a total of 170,000 VND, my wife and I were able to enjoy delicious Hanoi-style rice noodles. Since there are many restaurants specializing in delicious pho in downtown Ho Chi Minh City, Pho Loi may not be a place you would visit from far away, but it is definitely a neighborhood restaurant worth a visit if you live nearby.
