#1. District 7, Phu My Hung Korean Restaurant SAMWON BBQ Review
Korean restaurant SAMWON BBQ operates stores in Phu My Hung, District 7, and Thao Dien, District 2, Ho Chi Minh City. It is relatively inexpensive compared to other nearby BBQ restaurants, so it is a good place to visit for a casual meal of grilled meat. In particular, the outdoor tables have a great atmosphere, so it is a great restaurant to grab an outdoor table and have a drink in the evening.
On a Saturday evening, three of my friends and I visited after work and sat down at an outdoor table. On cool days, should take a outdoor table, because the outdoor tables have a much nicer atmosphere than the indoor ones. It is recommended to arrive before 6pm or make a reservation as there are few empty seats on weekend evenings.
There are served over ten side dishes, most of which are vegetables. Seasoned bean sprouts, salad, young radish kimchi, pickled onions, seasoned green onions, cabbage kimchi, radish kimchi, seasoned perilla leaves, seasoned spinach, kimchi pancakes, and ssam. These are all good to eat with meat.
They served steamed egg as a service. A rough steamed egg or something salty without any other special ingredients is good as a side dish for drinks while waiting for the meat to cook.
First, I ordered 4 servings of Thinly Sliced Pork Belly. It came with ripe cabbage kimchi. Thinly sliced pork belly is grilled with kimchi on an iron plate over a burner, not over charcoal.
It's cheap and the portion size is 180g per serving, and it's great that the staff grills it themselves. How happy is it that while drinking and chatting with friends, the staff puts cooked meat on plate and all you have to do is pick it up and eat it?
Additionally, I ordered 2 servings of Pork Skirt Meat. Since we were already grilling thinly sliced pork belly on iron plate, I asked to grill it in the kitchen due to lack of space.
At first glance, pork skirt meat looks like beef, and it is chewy and has a strong meaty flavor, really delicious. Thin, crispy, and savory pork belly is also very nice when eaten with kimchi stir-fried in pork belly oil.
Lastly, I ordered Pork Skin. The chewy texture and savory taste make it a great side dish with soju. When you visit SAMWON BBQ, I recommend ordering one serving of pork skin.
#2. Korean Restaurant SAMWON BBQ Menu
SAMWON BBQ is generally cheaper than other nearby restaurants, so it's a good place to visit to enjoy grilled meat without burden. If you can afford it, you can drink soju with beef ribs, and if you can't, eat thinly sliced pork belly or pork skirt meat also not bad. However, unlike the cheap soju prices, beer and makgeolli prices are a little higher than other restaurants.
After work on a Saturday evening, three friends and I visited and ordered the following and had a meal and a drink.
Thinly Sliced Pork Belly: 200,000VND x 4 EA = 800,000VND
Pork Skirt Meat: 250,000VND x 2 EA = 500,000VND
Pork Skin: 140,000VND
Cham E Sul Soju: 140,000VND x 7 EA = 980,000VND
Tiger Beer: 50,000VND x 7 EA = 350,000VND
For a total of 2,770,000VND, I was able to enjoy a drink with grilled pork as a side dish. SAMWON BBQ is relatively inexpensive compared to other meat restaurants, so it is a good place to visit for a casual meal of grilled meat. The outdoor tables have a particularly good atmosphere, making it a great restaurant to grab an outdoor table and have a drink in the evening.
