#1. District 7, Phu My Hung Italian Restaurant Margheri Pizza Review
Italian restaurant Margheri Pizza is located in the alley where the Korean BBQ restaurant Kyung Hee Gung is located in front of Sky Garden Apartment in Phu My Hung, District 7, Ho Chi Minh City. Here is famous among Westerners as an Italian pizza restaurant, and is an attractive restaurant where you can taste a variety of Italian dishes at reasonable prices.
I visited alone for a meal on a Wednesday evening and took a seat at an outdoor table near the entrance. Even though it was a weekday, more than half of the tables were filled with customers, and more than half of them were Westerners, so it seems like this restaurant is well-known among Westerners.
Since I was planning on eating pizza at an Italian restaurant, I ordered a glass of cheap Italian red wine, Tini Sangiovese Cabernet Rubicone. Although the taste and aroma are light, but it is dry and smooth to drink, so it went well with mild Italian food.
For my first dish, I ordered Truffle Bruschetta. Bruschetta is an Italian starter dish made with ingredients topped with toasted bread. Truffle sauce, homemade sausage, and arugula were topped on crispy toasted sourdough bread.
The texture of the crispy bread, the scent of the truffle, the simple yet deep taste of the homemade sausage, and the bitter taste and aroma of the arugula added to it, so it wasn't bad for a light meal with wine, but the balance of ingredients was little bit disappointing. There are so many good Italian restaurants in Ho Chi Minh that this wasn't enough to make me feel satisfied.
For my second dish, I ordered Smooky Beef Brisket(Half) & Bella Italia(Half). It was nice to be able to order half and half pizza, so I could visit by myself and taste two types of pizza. The pizza price is calculated as the higher of the two choices.
Bella Italia Pizza is a classic Italian pizza with cherry tomato confit, buffalo cheese, pesto sauce, oregano, basil, and EVO oil. It had a light yet subtle savory taste and acidity.
Smooky Beef Brisket Pizza is made with San Marzano tomato sauce, slow-cooked brisket, smoked provolone cheese, sauteed onions, demi-glace, paprika, and roasted basil. So it is a good fit for those who like a little greasy and heavy pizza.
As expected from Italian cuisine, the food was clean and simple, while still bringing out the natural flavors of the ingredients. If you feel a little bored, you can sprinkle the chili oil on the table to add a clean spicy flavor to your pizza or bruschetta for a more delicious meal.
