District 7, Korean Restaurant SAIGON HOUSE Review(2024.03)

#1. District 7, Korean Restaurant SAIGON HOUSE Review

SAIGON HOUSE, a Korean restaurant, is located in the alley where Gangnam BBQ is located in Phu My Hung, District 7, Ho Chi Minh City. Here is good for drinking soju. Even during lunch hours on Saturdays and Sundays, you can easily see men ordering a few snacks and drinking soju.

The interior of the restaurant is nothing special, just a typical small Korean restaurant in Vietnam. My friend and I visited for a meal at 11 a.m. on a Sunday, and even though it was early, most of the tables were filled with customers drinking soju.

Like other customers around me, I also came for a daytime drink, so I ordered Jinro soju right away. SAIGON HOUSE serves soju in ice bucket, so it's great because you can drink soju slowly and still enjoy it cold.

When you order food, you are given side dishes, and they are all delicious. The side dishes change slightly from day to day, but on the day I visited, they consisted of stir-fried potato, onions in soy sauce, cabbage, radish kimchi, cabbage kimchi, bean sprout salad, lotus root salad, stir-fried dried filefish, and ssam.

The first dish was Steamed Pork Kimchi(Medium). The size is quite large for two people, and it has a sour and spicy taste due to the ripe kimchi, making it a great food for soju. It also has a generous amount of tofu and pork, making it a great food for rice.

SAIGON HOUSE serve bowls of rice and seaweed soup according to the number of people if you order a reasonable amount of food. Since many of the dishes are spicy, they are really delicious when eaten with white rice. The savory yet soft seaweed soup also helps soothe the stomach.

If you order Steamed Pork Kimchi, it also comes with a soft-boiled fried eggs, which plays a very important role. There may be many people who are unfamiliar with the combination of Steamed Pork Kimchi and fried eggs, but this can be said to be the signature menu of SAIGON HOUSE.

Put an appropriate amount of rice on the plate, top it with a fried egg, and pour with Steamed Pork Kimchi. The sour and spicy kimchi stew and the soft, savory taste of the soft-boiled fried egg combine with the rice to create a great synergy, and you can eat up a bowl of rice in no time.

As the second dish, two servings of Seasoned Pork Short Ribs(Spicy) were served. You can choose between mild, spicy, and salt grilled, and unlike Seasoned Pork Short Ribs at other Korean restaurants, there is plenty of meat on the ribs, giving you the feeling that you are eating meat properly. It is a food that goes well with soju or as a side dish with rice.

Every single menu item sold at SAIGON HOUSE is delicious. Steamed Pork Kimchi and Seasoned Pork Short Ribs are especially popular, but other dishes such as Grilled Pork Ribs on Briquettes and Tuna Kimchi Stew are also good. Among the dozens of Korean restaurants located in Phu My Hung, District 7, SAIGON HOUSE is a restaurant that is very worth visiting and is a place that can be highly recommended to those living in Ho Chi Minh City.

#2. Korean Restaurant SAIGON HOUSE Menu

SAIGON HOUSE serve grilled meat, but rather than eating it directly at the table, food cooked in the kitchen, such as LA Galbi Grilled on Charcoal, Bulgogi Grilled on Charcoal, Seasoned Pork Short Ribs, and Grilled Pork Ribs on Briquettes are more popular. Many people are looking for foods that go well with soju, such as Seasoned Pork Short Ribs or Squid Pork Belly Bulgogi. In fact, I feel like it's a better restaurant to visit for a drink rather than a meal.

My friend and I visited during lunch time on a Sunday and ordered the following.

  1. Seasoned Pork Short Ribs(Spicy): 250,000VND x 2 EA = 500,000VND

  2. Steamed Pork Kimchi(Medium): 300,000VND

  3. Jinro Soju: 130,000VND x 2 EA = 260,000VND

I was able to eat a lot with my friend to fill my stomach for the low price of a total of 1,060,000VND. Among the many Korean restaurants in Phu My Hung, SAIGON HOUSE is an attractive Korean restaurant where you can taste special dishes such as Seasoned Pork Short Ribs and Steamed Pork Kimchi, which have their own unique charm. The portions are generous and the taste is excellent, making it a place worth visiting when you crave Korean food.
