#1. District 7, Korean Chinese Restaurant Gangneung K Jjamppong Review
Jjamppong specialty restaurant Gangneung K Jjamppong is located in an alley where the pho restaurant PHO VIET NAM is located in Phu My Hung, District 7, Ho Chi Minh City. It is an attractive place where you can taste the unique Jjamppong that stands out from the dozen other Korean Chinese restaurants in Phu My Hung.
I visited to dine alone on a Wednesday evening, and since it was a recently opened restaurant, the interior was quite clean for a Korean Chinese restaurant. Like other Korean Chinese restaurants, soy sauce and vinegar are placed on the table, and when you sit down and order, pickled radish and onions are provided.
While waiting for my order, I drank a can of Tiger beer with onions and pickled radish. Tiger is not bad, but it would have been nice to have Sapporo or Tsingtao beer, but it was a bit disappointing that the only beer was canned Tiger beer.
The first food served was Jjamppong. Jjamppong is a rich yet mild soup containing squid, pork, shiitake mushrooms, onions, cabbage, carrots, and zucchini, and is topped with a soft-boiled fried egg.
The jjamppong soup is rich, but not too spicy or sweet and clean. The thin and wide noodles hold the broth well, so I don't feel bland when eating them, and the seasoning is just right. In addition, the fried egg added a savory taste, making it definitely different from the more spicy jjamppong at other restaurants.
Sweet and sour pork was served as the second dish following jjamppong. Five large pieces of fried pork sprinkled with shredded cabbage and carrots were placed on a small plate, and a small bowl next to it was filled with sticky sauce.
It comes with tongs and scissors, which are used to cut large chunks of fried pork into bite-size pieces. It was a lot bigger than it looked, so it was difficult to eat all the Jjamppong and sweet and sour pork by myself.
There was a thick chunk of pork inside the large batter. It was softer than it looked and had a decent texture, and it was really delicious dipped in the sweet sauce. Of all the sweet and sour pork at a Korean Chinese restaurant I recently visited, this was the most impactful.
The food at Gangneung K Jjamppong is reasonably priced and overall tastes great. It was a restaurant well worth to visit as it served dishes with different charms that were clearly different from other restaurants.
#2. Gangneung K Jjamppong Menu
The menu at Jjamppong restaurant Gangneung K Jjamppong is very simple. Jjamppong, jjamppong rice, black bean noodles, sweet and sour pork, grilled dumplings, and bowl of rice are all. However, they serve dishes that are distinctly unique to this place, different from the dozen other Korean Chinese restaurants in Phu My Hung. The prices are generally reasonable and they start cooking as soon as you order, so it takes a while for the food to come out.
I visited alone on a Wednesday evening and ordered the meal below.
Sweet and Sour Pork: 170,000VND
Jjamppong: 240,000VND
Tiger Beer: 40,000VND
I was able to eat my fill of delicious Jjamppong and sweet and sour pork for a total of 450,000VND. Gangneung K Jjamppong is an attractive restaurant where you can taste unique and excellent Korean style Chinese foods at an overall reasonable price. Among the Korean Chinese restaurants I recently visited, the sweet and sour pork here was the most unique and delicious.
