#1. District 4, Seafood Restaurant OC DAO 2 Review
OC DAO 2 is a famous seafood restaurant located on Seafood Street in District 4, Ho Chi Minh City. This place is better known to tourists than the main store in the alley of District 1. This is a restaurant where you can enjoy a variety of delicious Vietnamese seafood dishes at an affordable price, and can be confidently recommended to those visiting Ho Chi Minh City.
The business is being conducted in the front yard of a house that looks like a home, with simple tables and chairs lined up. Four of my friends and I visited right after work on a Friday evening, and more than half of the tables were filled with customers. After taking a seat, it wasn't long before there were no more empty seats.
I ordered the Saigon Special, the best beer in Vietnam. There are several Vietnamese brand beers, including Hanoi and 333, but Saigon Special, made with German beer technology, personally suits my taste the best. German engineers I know only look for Saigon Specials in Vietnam.
The first dish was Rau Muong Xao Toi(Stir-fried Morning Glory with Garlic). It is an inexpensive dish with a crunchy texture and an attractive garlic scent and savory taste. It is one of the most popular dishes among Korean tourists in Vietnam. No matter which local restaurant you visit and order, it's hard not to find it delicious.
The second dish was Oc Toi Xao Bo(Sauteed conch with butter, garlic, sate). The addictive taste of the sweet, salty, and savory sauce and the chewy texture of the conch are a great combination, making it the best accompaniment to alcohol. The sticky sauce on the bottom is great for dipping your banh mi(baguette) into.
I immediately ordered Banh Mi(Baguette) to eat with sauteed conch. Tear the baguette into small pieces with your hands and dip it in the sauce for a heavenly taste.
The third dish was Bach Tuot(Grilled octopus) with wasabi sauce. It was grilled with spicy and salty seasoning, and it was soft and not tough, so it went really well with beer. Picking up a piece of octopus leg with cucumber and dipping it in wasabi sauce adds a spicy, sweet and refreshing taste to make it even more delicious.
The fourth dish was So Duong Nuong Mo Hanh(grilled cockles). They are sold by piece, not weight, so I ordered four to match the number of people. The cockle meat is cut into pieces, sprinkled with chives, nut powder, and oil, and then grilled over an open fire. This is an incredibly delicious dish. The fragrant scent of green onions is truly amazing.
The fifth dish was Tom Nuong Sate(Grilled shrimp skewers). Usually, shrimp are sold in quantities of grams, but in OC DAO, the price is fixed and the quantity fluctuates depending on the market price of the day. It's grilled with sweet and salty seasoning, and it's delicious whether you peel it off or eat it with the skin on.
In addition to this, I ordered a few more dishes, including Ngheu Hap Sa(Clam soup) and Oc Mo Xao Bo(Sauteed conch seasoning), all the food was cheap and delicious. OC DAO 2 is one of the local seafood restaurants worth visiting in District 4 Seafood Street, Ho Chi Minh City, and is highly recommended for those planning to visit Ho Chi Minh City.
#2. District 4, Seafood Restaurant OC DAO 2 Menu
OC DAO 2's menu has English names and pictures, so foreigners like us have no trouble choosing the menu. They serve a variety of seafood dishes using a variety of recipes, but if you find it difficult to order due to the large menu, you can ask the staff to recommend a few dishes that foreiners like. They will be more than happy to help.
Four of my friends and I visited for dinner on a Friday evening and ordered the following.
Ngheu Hap Sa: 50,000VND
Oc Toi Xao Bo: 100,000VND
So Duong Nuong Mo Hanh: 40,000VND x 4 EA = 160,000VND
Bach Tuot: 100,000VND
Tom Nuong Sate: 100,000VND
Oc Mo Xao Bo: 80,000VND
Rau Muong Xao Toi: 30,000VND x 2 EA = 60,000VND
Banh Mi: 5,000VND x 2 EA = 10,000VND
Saigon Special Beer: 18,000VND x 7 EA = 126,000VND
Khanh Lanh: 2,000VND x 4 EA = 8,000VND
A total of 794,000VND was enough to feed four men. OC DAO 2 is the best restaurant where you can enjoy a variety of seafood dishes at a low price, as long as you don't order only highly priced seafood such as crab and crayfish.
