#1. District 3, Rice Noodle Restaurant PHO VIET NAM Review
PHO VIET NAM, a rice noodle restaurant, is a Michelin Bib Gourmand-selected restaurant with its main branch located near Tan Dinh Cathedral(Pink Cathedral) in District 3, Ho Chi Minh City, and branches near Ben Thanh Market in District 1 and Phu My Hung in District 7. I visited all three stores, and the taste and price are all the same, so just visit the nearest store.
On Monday evening, my wife and I visited the PHO VIET NAM main branch in District 3 to have a meal. Even though we visited at 8 o'clock, which may be a bit late for dinner, most of the tables were filled with customers.
There are various sauces on the table, such as hoisin sauce, chili sauce, shallot pickle, garlic pickle, etc. You can add them to the rice noodle soup according to your preference. In particular, northern Vietnamese style (Hanoi) rice noodles are characterized by the addition of shallot pickle and garlic pickle, which help to reduce the greasiness of the meat broth and enhance the flavor.
PHO VIET NAM provides a free bottle of iced tea(Tra Da) when you order a meal, and you can drink it using the disposable plastic cup on the table.
The PHO TAI(Small) my wife ordered came out first. This is a representative Hanoi-style rice noodle. A lot of onions and chives are added to the rich broth, adding a subtle aroma and sweetness. Thinly sliced raw meat is half-cooked in the hot broth, and the soft yet strong meat flavor it further upgrades the broth taste.
The PHO THO DA C5(Earthen Pot Rice Noodle C5) I ordered came out. There are five options for earthen pot rice noodles, ranging from C1 to C5, depending on the toppings used. C5 is one of the most popular menu items at PHO VIET NAM as it contains various beef parts such as shank, flank, oxtail, and ribs.
Flank, oxtail, and ribs are placed in a broth that boils like a furnace in an earthen pot. The taste of the soup is similar to Korean Beef Rib Soup, so it is a dish that Koreans hard to dislike.
You can add beef shank and rice noodles into the boiling soup and add vegetables to suit your taste. PHO VIET NAM's regular rice noodles are delicious, but rice noodles made in an earthen pot, which maintains a hot temperature throughout the meal, are definitely more delicious.
Even if you don't order, chinese bread (QUAY) is served on the table. It's very cheap at 3,000VND per piece, so it's a good idea to try one if you're curious. It's bread dipped in rice noodle soup and is commonly eaten for breakfast in China and northern Vietnam, but it's not my favorite.
#2. Rice Noodle Restaurant PHO VIET NAM Menu
PHO VIET NAM is a rice noodle restaurant that serves various types of rice noodles. Earthen pot rice noodles are the most popular, but if you don't like hot food, it's not a bad idea to order regular rice noodles. The price is quite high in Vietnam for pho, but considering the taste, quantity, and popularity of the food, I feel it is a reasonable price.
My wife and I visited on a Monday evening and ordered the foods below.
PHO TAI(Small): 60,000VND
PHO THO DA C5: 100,000VND
Wet Tissue: 2,000VND x 2 EA = 4,000VND
For a total of 164,000VND, my wife and I were able to eat our fill of authentic Northern Vietnamese style pho. PHO VIET NAM is one of the best rice noodle restaurants in Ho Chi Minh City and a must-visit place if you are in Ho Chi Minh City. There are restaurants in Districts 1, 3, and 7 of Ho Chi Minh City, and since there is little difference in taste between stores, you can just visit the nearest location to eat.
