District 2, Thao Dien Taiwanese Beef Noodles Cow Mee Inn Review(2025.01)

#1. District 2, Thao Dien Taiwanese Beef Noodles Cow Mee Inn Review

Taiwanese beef noodles restaurant Cow Mee Inn is located in the alley of Thao Dien, District 2, Ho Chi Minh City, where the famous French restaurant La Villa and the handmade burger restaurant Marcel Gourmet are located. This is one of the few Taiwanese restaurants in Ho Chi Minh City where you can taste the original beef noodles that you tasted in Taiwan. It is a popular for those who miss Taiwanese cuisine.

I visited alone for dinner on a Thursday evening and sat down at an empty table. It was a small restaurant that only recently opened and the interior was clean. Perhaps because it was a weekday, I was the only one there, but there were a few Grab delivery drivers coming and going.

I came to a Taiwanese restaurant, so I ordered Taiwanese beer, although the price was a bit high. It was served with a glass of ice, and since it was a cold can of beer that had been kept in a refrigerator, it was good to drink on its own.

I ordered the Taiwan Beef Noodle Special. It was a large bowl of beef noodles with various toppings such as beef shank, tendons, tripes, and meatballs, served with chuan-cai(pickled cabbage).

The broth was made with meat, not bones, so it was quite light and clean tasting, and the subtle scent of spices was attractive. The noodles here were in harmony with the broth. I added sour pickled cabbage and chopped peppers to my taste, which made the meal even more delicious.

I ordered Taiwan Chicken Chop(Ji Pai) as my first side. It is a popular Taiwanese street food that is made by spreading out chicken breast and deep-frying it. The price is 89,000VND, which is definitely higher than the price in Taiwan.

It was a taste that everyone would love. Which was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, and the unique salty and spicy flavor was attractive. It was delicious even on its own, but it felt a little empty. I thought it would be good to serve it with mustard or tartar sauce or sell it as an option.

I ordered Taiwan Sausage as the second side. Taiwan Sausage is characterized by its chewy texture, juicy meat, and rich meaty flavor due to its high pork fat content. Its spicy flavor went really well with beer. I think it would have been even more delicious if it came with ketchup or some kind of dipping sauce.

Cow Mee Inn, a Taiwanese beef noodle restaurant, is a place where you can definitely taste the same food you ate in Taiwan. Of course, the price is a lot more expensive than what you ate in Taiwan, but it is definitely a restaurant that has the merit of being able to taste authentic Taiwanese food in Ho Chi Minh.

#2. Taiwanese Beef Noodles Cow Mee Inn Menu

Cow Mee Inn serves famous Taiwanese food that comes to mind when you think of Taiwan, such as beef noodles, rice bowls, ji pai, sausages, and pig's feet. The prices are quite expensive compared to original restaurants in Taiwan, and there are something a little lacking, but it is one of the best Taiwanese restaurants in Ho Chi Minh City, and it is popular among those who miss Taiwanese food because it offers the taste of Taiwan.

I visited alone on Thursday evening and ordered as follows:

  1. Taiwan Beef Noodle Special: 160,000VND

  2. Taiwan Sausage: 75,000VND

  3. Taiwan Chicken Chop: 89,000VND

  4. Taiwan Beer: 59,000VND

The total was 383,000VND, which is a bit high compared to Vietnam local restaurants. Cow Mee Inn may be a bit pricey for those who know Taiwanese prices, but it is the most satisfying Taiwanese restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City. It is definitely an attractive restaurant for those who miss Taiwanese food such as beef noodles and ji pai.
