#1. District 2, Thao Dien Local Restaurant Pho Bui Gia Review
Local restaurant Pho Bui Gia is located in an alley near Thao Dien Pearl Shopping Mall in Thao Dien, District 2, Ho Chi Minh City. This restaurant sells Hanoi-style pho and is popular not only with foreigners but also with locals living in the area.
It is already a famous pho restaurant for people living in Ho Chi Minh City, but it is becoming increasingly popular among foreign tourists as well. For a local restaurant, this is a clean, that is fairly hygienic, and it's delicious, so it's definitely worth a visit to try the pho of here.
It was a hot day, so I ordered Tra Da(Iced Tea) first. It has a slight jasmine tea scent and tastes similar to savory green tea. At the very affordable price of 3,000VND, it is perfect to order when eating hot rice noodles in hot Ho Chi Minh City.
If you order rice noodles, various sauces to add to the rice noodles are spread out on the table. Served with hoisin sauce, chili sauce, pickled garlic, pepper, and Nuoc Mam sauce. You can use the Nuoc Mam sauce by pouring onto tiny bowl, adding pepper slices, and using it to dip the meat of rice noodles.
In addition to various sauces, spices such as Thai basil and culantro, pepper slices, lime, and hot tea are served. Compared to other pho restaurants, it seems like they give you a little spices, but in fact, there are enough of them and if you don't have enough, you can get more for free by telling the staff.
On this day, I ordered Pho Bui Gia's signature dish, Thap Cam Dac Biet(Mixed Special). A generous bowl of rice noodles with various parts of rare beef, brisket, sirloin, ribs, oxtail, meatballs, etc., served with blanched bean sprouts.
This is a typical Hanoi rice noodle dish featuring a light, clear broth made from beef with plenty of onions and green onions. You can enjoy rice noodles more deliciously by adding various textures and flavors by adding bean sprouts, spices, pepper slices, lime juice, and various sauces to suit your taste.
#2. Local Restaurant Pho Bui Gia Menu
Pho Bui Gia's rice noodles have the same broth base, but come in different types depending on the ingredients, such as rare beef, brisket, sirloin, shank, ribs, oxtail, and meatballs. If you can eat everything, it's a good idea to order a Mixed Special containing various ingredients. If you're not good at eating tough and fishy foods, it's a good idea to avoid meat that has a strong smell and is tough, such as shank or oxtail. You can choose the size of the rice noodles: Small, Regular, or Special.
I visited alone on a Thursday evening and ordered the meal below.
Thap Cam Dac Biet(Mixed Special): 100,000VND
Tra Da(Iced Tea): 3,000VND
Wet Wipe: 2,000VND
I was able to enjoy a full meal of Hanoi-style pho for a total of 105,000VND. It's hard to say that Pho Bui Gia is the best pho restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City, but it's definitely one of the top 10 pho restaurants. It is an attractive restaurant where you can taste authentic Hanoi-style rice noodles at a reasonable price in Thao Dien.
