#1. District 2, Thao Dien Korean BBQ Dining Restaurant 0°C Review
Korean BBQ dining restaurant 0°C is located between the famous aged pork restaurant Matchandeul BBQ and Japanese restaurant Shobu at the entrance of the main road of Thao Dien, District 2, Ho Chi Minh City. This is a premium beef BBQ restaurant that opened at the end of last year. It has a clean interior, good quality beef, and seasoned crab and raw beef as side dishes, making it quite popular among Korean residents nearby.
It is a one-story building, so it looks small from the outside, but the ceiling is high and there are several rooms inside where can dine privately, so it feeled bigger than I thought when I saw it from the inside. I made a reservation a room and visited on a Friday evening to have a meal with friends.
As expected from a premium BBQ restaurant, the side dishes were also splendid. Each and every one of the side dishes, from green onion pancakes, japchae, pickled vegetables, raw beef, salted oyster, and raw marinated crab, were delicious.
There are many side dishes that are good for drinking, so I kept drinking soju before I even started grilling the meat. Some side dishes, such as raw marinated crab and kimchi, are sold in containers, so if you like them, you can buy some to take home.
The large round charcoal container at the end of the table was filled with high-quality charcoal, and the pink charcoal fire looked so beautiful. Of course, the staff grilled the meat herself and cut it into bite-size pieces.
For our first meat, we ordered 4 servings of Boneless Short Rib(150g). At 700,000VND per serving, it was the most expensive beef menu item, and the marbling was beautifully evenly distributed.
The staff grilled the meat for us, and I felt like she had really learned how to grill it. Boneless Short Rib is best to cook the outside well over high heat while keeping the inside medium or medium-rare, and she did a great job of cooking the meat to the perfect doneness.
The cooked meat was cut into bite-size pieces and placed on a mini brazier. The marbling was evenly distributed, giving it a soft and moist texture and a rich meaty flavor that gave me great satisfaction. As expected of a fatty cut, it was best eaten with wasabi and salt.
While eating meat, they served ginseng along with honey according to the number of people. I felt good because it was a special service that I don't usually get.
The staff grilled all the Boneless Short Ribs and grilled a few pieces of Spicy Stir-fried Chicken for free. 0°C sells not only beef and pork but also chicken, so if the price of beef is too high, it might be a good idea to order pork and chicken.
The Spicy Stir-fried Chicken was grilled until golden brown with a sweet and spicy sauce. It was quite delicious after eating the oily and greasy beef.
Since there wasn't enough meat, I ordered three additional servings of Rib Finger Meat, and the additional service of tteokbokki and fish cake soup came out right away. The tteokbokki didn't taste as good as it looked.
The tteokbokki was disappointing, but the fish cake soup was really nice. I loved the hot and spicy soup with soju.
For our second meat, I ordered three servings of Rib Finger Meat(150 g). It wasn't as beautiful as the Boneless Short Rib, but it looked quite good because it looked fresh with bright pink.
The moderately chewed texture and meat scent were attractive, but when I ordered it after eating the soft, meaty Boneless Short Rib, which had a strong impact, my satisfaction dropped. I should have ordered the Rib Finger Meat first.
0°C do sell pot rice, cold buckwheat noodles, and spicy buckwheat noodles for meal, but they doesn't have any half size meal menus. You can order one and split it into two bowls. I split it in half with my friend, and the taste was very good, so I was really satisfied.
After finishing the meal and paying, they gave me a fish-shaped bun made right in the store for dessert. It had less red bean paste than the original Korean fish-shaped bun, and the dough didn't seem to be fully made, but I was happy to receive such an unexpectedly special dessert.
At the free dessert ice cream corner at the entrance of the store, I was able to finish my meal with peach and pomegranate slushies, and blueberry, chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, and melon ice creams. Right next to it, they sell raw soy sauce shrimp, raw marinated crab, kimchi, etc., so if there is a side dish you like, you can buy it.
#2. Korean BBQ Dining Restaurant 0°C Menu
Premium BBQ 0°C serves a variety of grilled meats, including beef, pork, and chicken. The prices are a bit high, as expected from a high-end meat restaurant, but VAT is not charged separately, and the alcohol prices are not much different from other Korean restaurants, so I felt like I ate at a more reasonable price than I thought.
I made a reservation for dinner with five friends on a Friday evening and ordered as follows:
Boneless Short Rib(150g): 700,000VND x 4 EA = 2,800,000VND
Rib Finger Meat(150g): 450,000VND x 3 EA = 1,350,000VND
Cold Buckwheat Noodles: 160,000VND
Spicy Buckwheat Noodles: 160,000VND
Sapporo Draft Beer: 65,000VND x 5 EA = 325,000VND
Chamisul Soju: 150,000VND x 2 EA = 300,000VND
Jinro Soju: 150,000VND x 4 EA = 600,000VND
Makgeolli: 200,000VND
With a total of 5,895,000VND, I was able to have a satisfying meal at a reasonable price. The side dishes, including raw beef, seasoned oysters, and spicy marinated crab, were all delicious. 0°C is one of the few premium BBQ restaurants in Thao Dien, District 2 where you can enjoy high quality beef, and is a great place to visit with important guests or family.
