#1. District 2, Thao Dien Italian Restaurant Brio Thao Dien Review
Italian restaurant Brio Thao Dien is located in an alley in the middle of Thao Dien Main Street in District 2, near French restaurant P'ti Saigon and Vietnamese restaurant Quan Bui Garden. Although the restaurant has only recently opened, it is popular with both foreigners and locals because it serves clean, classic Italian cuisine at reasonable prices.

I visited on a Friday evening to dine alone and sat at an empty table near the entrance. There was a bar table, and in addition to wine, they also had a variety of whiskeys and cocktails. If you visit during happy hour, you can get 50% off classic cocktails and beers.

The atmosphere was quite good, with high ceilings, modern interiors, wine cellars and shelves for storing wine glasses scattered throughout. Most of the customers were foreigners, such as Westerners and Japanese, rather than locals.

I visited during happy hour and was able to drink Peroni draft beer at a low price of 40,000VND. It is a representative lager beer of Italy, and has a cool refreshing taste with a slightly bitter aftertaste, and is goes well with delicate and not spicy Italian cuisine.

As a appetizer bread, a grissini, a baguette, and a rye baguette, was served warm. The breads here were quite tasty, so it's impossible for the dishes in a restaurant like this to be bad.

On the staff's recommendation, I ordered a glass of the inexpensive red wine Miguel Torres Andica Gran Reserva. A Chilean Pinot Noir, it was dry and light, and was reasonably drinkable for the price.

For my first dish, I ordered Melanzane Alla Parmigiana. Parmigiana is a classic Italian dish, like lasagna, but instead of thin noodles made with thinly sliced eggplants with cheese, tomato sauce, and basil. If you like eggplant dishes, this is a must-order.

The flavors and aromas of tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, parmesan cheese, and basil further enhanced the soft yet rich natural flavor of the eggplant baked, giving me great satisfaction. It was a great dish that went well with red wine.

For my second dish, I ordered Pizza Diavola. Pizza Diavola is one of the representative Italian pizzas, similar to American pepperoni pizza, but with salami instead of pepperoni.

The harmony of fresh tomato sauce, salty and rich mozzarella cheese, and spicy salami that cuts through the greasiness on top of the thin and soft pizza dough was quite appealing. Drizzling some chili oil on top took the flavor and aroma to the next level.

#2. Italian Restaurant Brio Thao Dien Menu
Italian restaurant Brio Thao Dien serves classic Italian dishes such as caesar salad, caprese, pasta, and pizza, as well as dishes with a modern touch. The prices are reasonable considering the cost of Thao Dien, and the dishes quality makes it feel satisfactory. The prices for alcohol are a bit high, but if you visit during happy hour, you can get a 50% discount on classic cocktails and beers, so it’s not bad.

I visited for dinner alone on a Friday evening and ordered as follows:
Melanzane Alla Parmigiana: 170,000VND
Pizza Diavola: 200,000VND
Peroni Draft Beer(Happy Hour): 40,000VND x 2 EA = 80,000VND
Miguel Torres Andica Gran Reserva: 205,000VND
I was able to have a very satisfying meal for a reasonable price of 748,755VND including 5% service charge, 8% general VAT, and 10% alcohol VAT. Brio Thao Dien is the most satisfying Italian restaurant I have visited recently, and is well worth a visit if you are craving classic and clean Italian cuisine.
