#1. District 2, Thao Dien BBQ Restaurant STAR HALL Review
Star Hall, a Korean BBQ restaurant, is located in an alley where Starbucks is located Thao Dien street in District 2, where restaurants of various nationalities are located in Ho Chi Minh City. Unlike the shabby exterior of the restaurant, the inside of the restaurant is clean and you can taste a variety of Korean food at reasonable prices, making it a popular place not only for Koreans but also for young Vietnamese locals.
The interior has a retro feel reminiscent of the Korean 80s and 90s street food carts, and the overall menu, including alcohol, is inexpensive, making it a very popular restaurant among drinkers. I definitely saw a lot of men around 40 years old.
My wife and I visited on a Wednesday evening to have frozen pork belly and beer. I ordered three cans of Tiger beer and they gave me three glasses of ice. There were only two of us...
When I ordered frozen pork belly, the basic side dishes included muksabal(Cold Soup), kimchi, onion soy sauce, green onion kimchi, green onion salad, sausage pancakes, and ssam. Overall, it was good, but the sweet, sour, and cool muksabal was very attractive.
When ordering grilled food, you can choose whether you want it grilled at your table or outdoors at the grilling area. If you don't want the smell to get on your clothes, you can ask for the meat to be grilled outdoor.
Thin frozen pork belly was grilled crispy on both sides and served, and although the texture and flavor are definitely inferior to fresh pork belly, the crispy texture and unique taste and flavor are not bad for the price. It is good value for money, but it has a distinct charm that is different from fresh pork belly, so I visit it from time to time.
I was served steamed eggs as a service, and it was a savory, salty, and delicious steamed eggs. It was nothing special, but I felt good about getting service even though I didn't order much.
I can't help but order cold noodles when I eat pork belly. I ordered Star Hall’s signature dish, muksabal cold noodles. It put noodles in a sweet, sour, and cool muksabal(Cold Soup), and the portion was generous and quite delicious. This is one of the must-order menu items when visiting Star Hall.
Star Hall is a cost-effective BBQ restaurant where you can enjoy plenty of Korean food at a low price. The taste is decent and the retro atmosphere is quite nice, making it a great place to visit for a casual drink.
#2. BBQ Restaurant STAR HALL Menu
Star Hall's main menu is grilled pork such as frozen pork belly and skinless jowls, and it also serves a variety of soju snacks such as chicken feet, tofu with kimchi pork, and skewered oden soup. The overall prices, including alcohol, are cheaper, making it a great restaurant to visit for a drink.
My wife and I visited on a Wednesday evening and ordered the dishes below.
Frozen Pork Belly(200g): 150,000VND x 4 EA = 600,000VND
Muksabal Cold Noodles: 120,000VND
Tiger Beer: 50,000VND x 6 EA = 300,000VND
I was able to eat my fill of delicious frozen pork belly for a total low price of 1,020,000VND. In addition to grilled pork, Star Hall service a variety of alcoholic snacks that go well with soju, such as chicken feet and skewered oden soup, at reasonable prices. So it is a restaurant frequented by not only Koreans but also young Vietnamese locals.
