District 1, VINCOM CENTER Dimsum Restaurant JIN DIN ROU Review(2024.05)

#1. District 1, VINCOM CENTER Dimsum Restaurant JIN DIN ROU Review

JIN DIN ROU, a dimsum restaurant, is a Taiwanese franchise restaurant that operates stores at Vincom Center and Saigon Center in District 1, and at Hung Vung Plaza in District 5, Ho Chi Minh City. It started as a xiao long bao(soup dumplings) restaurant in Taiwan and is a large franchise that operates more than 30 stores in Japan alone.

The store I visited that day is located in the restaurant area on the 3rd basement level of Vincom Center in District 1 and has a very modern and sophisticated interior. There are regular tables in the large hall near the entrance, and there is a private room in a corner of the restaurant.

Visited for dinner with family on a Friday evening and settled down in the hall. Since I came to a Chinese restaurant, I ordered Tsingtao beer. A specially designed glass cup came with the beer. The interior of the restaurant and the tableware were definitely luxurious, so I felt treated well.

For my first dish, I ordered Tieu Long Bao(Soup Dumplings). Dimsum is made with minced meat wrapped in a thin layer of skin, making the skin tear and the savory juicy filling filled my mouth. This is an attractive dimsum.

Adding soy sauce with shredded ginger to the soup dumplings made it even more delicious. JIN DIN ROU's dim sum taste is a little worse than that of the famous Chinese restaurant DIM TU TAC, but it is delicious enough, and unlike DIM TU TAC, it has the great advantage of being able to order dim sum even in the evening.

For my second dish, I ordered Chan Ga Sot X.O(XO Sauce Seasoned Chicken Feet). It wasn't bad, but it was definitely different from Dim Tu Tac's chicken feet, which were soft and had a rich seasoning flavor.

For my third dish, I ordered Ha Cao Tom(Shrimp Dumplings). The Ha Cao, which had a generous amount of plump shrimp meat, was the most delicious dimsum I had that day.

For my fourth dish, I ordered Xiu Mai Thit Cua(Crab Meat Shumai). This was also quite good as it had a good flavor and texture of crab meat.

For my fifth dish, I ordered Combo BBQ 1. There were small chunks of chicken breast, pork belly, and duck breast on a large plate, so I was able to taste a variety of meats at a good price. It also comes with brown sweet and sour Peking duck sauce, and it's quite delicious when dipped in it.

For my sixth dish, I ordered Dau Que Thit Bam(Stir-fried Green Beans with Pork). It's a pretty good Chinese dish with a slightly spicy and salty taste that goes well with the texture and taste of green beans and minced pork. It's delicious to eat on its own, but it's even better if you order fried rice and eat it together.

For my seventh and final dish, I ordered Com Chien Tom(Shrimp Fried Rice). This is authentic Chinese fried rice with eggs, green onions, shrimp, etc. It couldn't help but be delicious from the looks of it. It went well with the Stir-fried Green Beans with Pork.

#2. Dimsum Restaurant JIN DIN ROU Menu

JIN DIN ROU, a dimsum restaurant, serves a variety of Chinese dishes including dimsum, fried rice, Peking duck, and dongpo pork. Considering the cost of Vietnam, the overall menu prices are a bit high, but considering the restaurant's atmosphere, service, and food quality, it's not bad. Although it is true that the taste of dimsum is a little inferior compared to DIM TU TAC, there is a big advantage of being able to order dimsum even in the evening and not having to wait.

On a Friday evening, my family of three visited for dinner and ordered the following.

  1. Chan Ga Sot X.O(XO Sauce Seasoned Chicken Feet): 69,000VND

  2. Com Chien Tom(Shrimp Fried Rice): 135,000VND

  3. Combo BBQ 1: 275,000VND

  4. Dau Que Thit Bam(Stir-fried Green Beans with Pork): 95,000VND

  5. Ha Cao Tom(Shrimp Dumplings): 80,000VND

  6. Tieu Long Bao(Soup Dumplings): 45,000VND

  7. Xiu Mai Thit Cua(Crab Meat Shumai): 80,000VND

  8. Tsingtao Beer: 59,000VND

  9. Water: 20,000VND

I was able to enjoy a variety of Chinese dishes to my fill for a total of 927,820VND, including 8% general VAT and 10% alcohol VAT. Except for the chicken feet, the rest of the dishes were more than basic, and the shrimp used were large and fresh, so the fried rice and shrimp dumplings using the shrimp were especially delicious. JIN DIN ROU is an attractive restaurant where you can order dim sum even in the evening, and I think it can replace Dim Tu Tac to some extent.
