District 1, Local Restaurant Com Tam Bui Saigon Review(2024.05)

#1. District 1, Local Restaurant Com Tam Bui Saigon Review

Local restaurant Com Tam Bui Saigon is located in an alley across from Thi Nghe Canal, just below District Phu Nhuan, at the very northern end of Ho Chi Minh City's District 1. Near Le Van Tam Park and Pink Cathedral, there is also a famous Banh Xeo restaurant, Banh Xeo 46A. This is a famous restaurant in this neighborhood, and you can see quite a lot of foreigners as well as locals.

At the entrance of the restaurant, there is a large shelf where food ingredients and packaging containers, such as seasoned ribs, are organized. Here, food is quickly plated and served or packaged and handed over to the delivery driver.

I visited a restaurant after 8pm on a Wednesday evening and saw many locals eating. I sat down in the corner and ordered food.

Once you take a seat and place your order, wet tissue and Tra Da(iced tea) are provided according to the number of people. Iced tea is free, but wet tissue cost extra.

On this day, I ordered Com Suon Non Nuong Mat Ong(Pork Back Rib) with Op La(Fried Egg) added. Instead of Com Suon's regular seasoned pork, the seasoned pork back ribs are served on rice with a fried egg.

Nuoc mam sauce is also served along with com suon, and you can add chopped red pepper to suit your taste. You can enjoy com suon even more deliciously by spreading the sweet, sour and spicy sauce on the meat and rice.

There are four pieces of seasoned pork back ribs on top of the rice, but half of them are bones, so the amount of meat is not much. It is definitely delicious with a softer texture, but the portion is not enough compared to rice, so it is recommended to eat it with an additional fried egg.

Com Tam Bui Saigon has a clean interior for a local restaurant, and the food is neat and delicious, so it's definitely worth a visit and a meal if you happen to stop by nearby.

#2. Local Restaurant Com Tam Bui Saigon Menu

Local restaurant Com Tam Bui Saigon has several types of com tam, and you can add extras such as fried egg, pork rind, etc. The prices are reasonable, and although the store only has a menu in Vietnamese, the staff will show you the English menu on their mobile phones, so you won't have much trouble ordering.

I visited on a Wednesday evening to dine alone and ordered the following.

  1. Com Suon Non Nuong Mat Ong(Pork Back Rib): 65,000VND

  2. Op La(Fried Egg): 12,000VND

  3. Heineken Beer: 25,000VND

  4. Wet tissue: 2,000VND

I was able to get a decent meal for a total of 104,000VND. Com Tam Bui Saigon is a reasonably priced local restaurant located in downtown District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. Although the location is a bit far from the center, it is definitely worth a visit and a meal if you happen to stop by nearby.
