#1. District 1, Le Thanh Ton Japanese Town Kimgane Kimbap Review
Kimgane Kimbap is a Korean snack bar that operates 24 hours a day near Phu My Hung, District 7, and the Japanese Town of Le Thanh Ton, District 1. In a neat store, you can enjoy the same quality snacks you eat in Korea at a reasonable price, so you can see not only Korean customers but also young locals.
To eat on a Monday evening, I went alone to a restaurant located in Japanese Town, Le Thanh Ton, District 1, and took a seat in the corner. While I was sitting and waiting for my order, I could see many Grab drivers delivering food. Ordering food through apps such as Grab may be slightly more expensive than eating directly at the store, but the advantage is that you do not have to go to the city center.
I visited alone that day and ordered and drank Sprite. Unlike snack bars in Korea, in addition to soft drinks, they also sell alcoholic beverages such as soju and beer, so it doesn't seem a bad idea to visit for a drink with friends along with snacks.
As expected from a Korean snack bar, kimchi and pickled radish are served as side dishes. If you don't have enough, you can ask the staff for more. Perhaps because the kimchi was served some time after opening the package, it was ripe enough and tasted even better.
I ordered Rabokki as my first dish. It is very generous with curly ramen noodles and a whole egg in the tteokbokki, and it was much more delicious than most snack bars in Korea. It was the most delicious Rabokki I've had in years.
For my second dish, I ordered Kimbap Tuna & Mayonaise. The visual of the thick kimbap, sprinkled with sesame seeds, makes me feel delicious even before I eat it.
The Kimbap Tuna & Mayonaise was thick and quite delicious with plenty of ham, cucumber, eggs, carrots, pickled radish, lotus root, tuna mayo, and perilla leaves. Among several Korean snack bars in downtown Ho Chi Minh City, the kimbap here is closest to the original and definitely delicious.
Udon soup was served with kimbap, and the taste was just not bad. It would have been nice if it was hot, but it was a bit disappointing that it cooled down and came out lukewarm.
Kimgane Gimbap is the best snack bar in Ho Chi Minh city and much better than the typical snack bars in Korea. The prices are a bit high compared to Vietnamese prices, but they are similar to those of snack bars in Korea, the quantity of food is larger and the quality is definitely above average.
#2. Kimgane Kimbap Menu
Kimgane Kimbap services all the dishes that a Korean snack bar would sell, including various kimbap, bibimbap, fried rice, spicy pork rice bowl, ramen, chapagetti, cold noodles, and dumplings. The prices are a bit high compared to Vietnamese prices and are similar to snack bars in Korea. They also sell soju and beer, so it's great to have a drink with snacks, and it's open 24 hours a day, so you can order food early in the morning and late at night.
I visited alone for dinner on a Monday evening and ordered the following.
Rabokki: 100,000VND
Kimbap Tuna & Mayonaise: 80,000VND
Soft Drink: 20,000VND
For only 200,000VND, I was able to enjoy a full meal for the first time in a long time. These days, prices in Korea have risen a lot, so I feel like Vietnam's Kimgane Gimbap is better than Korean snack bars in all aspects price, taste, and quantity. Living in Vietnam, I sometimes had a hard time not being able to eat proper kimbap or other Korean snacks, but I no longer have to miss Korean snacks.
