#1. District 1, Le Thanh Ton Japanese Restaurant Okonomiyaki Shu Review
Okonomiyaki Shu, an okonomiyaki restaurant, is located at the entrance to Le Thanh Ton Japanese Town, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. Overall, the menu prices are cheaper than those at nearby Japanese restaurants, and the alcohol prices are especially low, so it is a good restaurant to visit for a drink with a teppan dishes.
When you enter the store, a large iron plate welcomes you. Here, they make teppan dishes such as okonomiyaki, and it's a good to sit at a table, drink beer, and watch the food being prepared while waiting for your food.
This restaurant has been in the same location for over 10 years in Le Thanh Ton Japanese Town. The interior is old, but the atmosphere is quite nice as it feels like a long-established Japanese restaurant. The bookshelf on one wall is filled with Japanese comic books, so if you know how to read Japanese, it seems possible to read comics while eating.
Since I was at a Japanese restaurant, I started with Sapporo draft beer. It is a really well-made beer that goes well with any food as it has a smooth, moderate refreshingness and a nutty flavor unique to Japanese lager.
For my first dish, I ordered NIKUTAMA SOBA SPECIAL MAYONEZU. It is a basic okonomiyaki made with soba, pork, egg, and cabbage, sprinkled with plenty of okonomiyaki sauce and mayonnaise, and topped with squid and shrimp. It may look small, but the layers are quite thick, so if you're dining alone, you can easily fill your stomach with just one.
The crispy exterior and soft soba grilled on an iron plate, the sweet and sour okonomiyaki sauce and the savory mayonnaise sprinkled roughly on top go well together, giving me the same taste I used to eat in Japan. The squid and shrimp on top made the food not boring.
For my second dish, I ordered Bacon Wrapped Asparagus. It's a simple dish of grilled asparagus and bacon, but the combination of the soft and crunchy texture of the asparagus and the fatty and salty bacon was quite good. If you dip it in salt and pepper from the corner of the plate, it goes well with beer.
Okonomiyaki Shu is a restaurant that offers a variety of Japanese teppan dishes at reasonable prices for a restaurant located in the downtown area of Ho Chi Minh City's District 1. It is a great place to visit when you're craving Sapporo draft beer with Japanese snacks. This restaurant offers the same taste as you would have in Japan, and the friendly staff makes you feel satisfied every time you visit.

Okonomiyaki Shu serves a variety of okonomiyaki, teppanyaki dishes, and Japanese snacks. Overall, the menu prices are cheaper than those at nearby Japanese restaurants, and the alcohol prices are especially low, so it is a good restaurant to visit for a drink with a teppanyaki meal.
I visited alone for dinner on a Wednesday evening and ordered the following.
NIKUTAMA SOBA SPECIAL MAYONEZU: 230,000VND
Bacon Wrapped Asparagus: 90,000VND
Sapporo Draft Beer: 60,000VND x 2잔 = 120,000VND
For a total of 440,000VND, I was able to enjoy Sapporo draft beer and okonomiyaki to my fill. Okonomiyaki Shu's overall menu is inexpensive than other Japanese restaurants, and also unlike other restaurants nearby, it does not charge VAT, making it more attractive restaurant where you can enjoy a variety of Japanese teppanyaki dishes with a Sapporo draft beer.
