#1. District 1, Le Thanh Ton Japanese Restaurant Gyoza no Chikara Review
Japanese restaurant Gyoza no Chikara is located in an alley where tonkatsu restaurant FUJIRO and izakaya TORISHO are located in Le Thanh Ton Japanese Town, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. Among the dozens of Japanese restaurants in Japanese Town, this is the only gyoza specialty restaurant, also making it a popular here where you can taste delicious gyoza at a reasonable price.
It is a small restaurant with a bar table surrounding the kitchen and two regular tables back side of it. It has a steady stream of customers even on weekdays, and there are always no empty seats on weekend evenings, so have to wait at the entrance. I visited alone on a Wednesday evening and sat at the bar table.
Although the alcoholic menu sold at Gyoza no Chikara is not diverse, they have everything that an izakaya should have, including Sapporo draft beer, plum wine, sweet potato shochu, sake, and highball. I ordered Sapporo draft beer that day and enjoyed it with gyoza.
The first dish I ordered was Mabo Tofu. The intensely red Japanese mapo tofu, made with soft tofu, minced pork, and chives, is not as spicy as it looks, but the seasoning is strong, making it a good snack to drinks, or with rice or gyoza.
The second dish was Yaki Gyoza. This is filled with pork, cabbage, onions, green onions, etc. grilled until crispy on one side, is Gyoza no Chikara's most basic menu item and best-seller. It was moderately greasy and had a light taste, making it a great with drinks.
The third dish was Tantan Gyoza. It is a dish made by putting boiled gyoza in a slightly sour, spicy and savory Japanese tantanmen soup made with toban sauce and peanut butter and sprinkled with chopped chives and shallot flakes. It's a good food to order when yaki gyoza feels too ordinary and you want to taste special gyoza.
Japanese restaurant Gyoza no Chikara is an attractive restaurant where you can taste high-quality gyoza and a variety of Japanese snacks at reasonable prices. This is a great place to visit when you want to have a drink with gyoza.
#2. Japanese Restaurant Gyoza no Chikara Menu
Gyoza no Chikara is selling a variety of gyoza dishes such as yaki gyoza, okonomiyaki gyoza, tomato cheese gyoza, and tantan gyoza, as well as Japanese food such as edamame, karaage, and chahan(fried rice). Compared to other Japanese restaurants nearby, the overall menu prices are relatively cheap and the food tastes good, so many Japanese people come this place after work on weekday evenings.
I visited alone for dinner on a Wednesday evening and ordered the following.
Yaki Gyoza: 85,000VND
Tantan Gyoza: 98,000VND
Mabo Tofu: 138,000VND
Sapporo Draft Beer: 68,000VND x 2 EA = 136,000VND
For a reasonable price of 479,850VND, including a 5% service charge, I was able to enjoy delicious gyoza with cold Sapporo draft beer. Gyoza no Chikara is an attractive restaurant where many Japanese customers visit even on weekday evenings to enjoy a glass of Sapporo draft beer with gyoza as they serve a variety of Japanese alcoholic beverages at reasonable prices in addition to gyoza-based dishes.
