#1. District 1, Le Thanh Ton Japanese Hamburg Steak Gyumaru Review
Gyumaru, a Japanese hamburg steak restaurant, is located in an alley next to the CJ Building in Le Thanh Ton Japanese Town, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. Considering the prices in Vietnam, it cannot be said to be cheap, but this restaurant has the great advantage of being able to eat hamburg steak from Gyumaru, a famous restaurant in Fukuoka, Japan, in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, at a reasonable price.
As befits a place that sells beef, Gyumaru also serves wine. I ordered an inexpensive a decanter of red wine, to go with my wagyu hamburg steak. There was little depth of aroma or taste, but it wasn't bad to drink for a light meal.
For my first dish, I ordered Shrimp Croquette. Two small croquettes were placed in a cute bowl with a tomato-based sauce sprinkled with parmesan cheese.
The crispy croquette was filled with potatoes and shrimp, and it was quite delicious when dipped in tomato sauce sprinkled with parmesan cheese. The sauce had a moderate acidity that whetted my appetite, and the subtle spicy-sweet flavor went well with the red wine.
For my second dish, I ordered Mix Grill(170g). I chose demi-glace sauce out of five sauces, and I chose rice out of baguette and rice. You can choose the size of the hamburg steak from 120g, 170g, or 220g. Since there are consisted of a variety of food other than hamburg steak in a meal, 120g will be enough for women, and 170g for men will be enough.
Mix Grill features a generous of hamburg steak, sausage, and chicken thigh. There was bean sprouts underneath the meat, and tomato, potato, spinach, and carrot were served as garnishes, so I was very satisfied with being able to taste a variety of foods in one meal.
The thick hamburg steak was well-cooked, soft, moist, and full of flavor, making it very delicious. The seasoning of the hamburg steak itself is not very strong, so it may be a bit boring to eat with rice, but if you dip it deeply in demi-glace sauce, it becomes even better to eat with rice.
#2. Japanese-Steak Gyumaru Menu
In addition to hamburg steaks, Gyumaru sells a variety of Japanese style Western dishes, including wagyu steaks, sausages, fried shrimp, salads, wagyu carpaccio, gambas, and pumpkin soup. Compared to prices in Vietnam, it may feel a little expensive overall, but considering the quantity and quality of the food and the fact that it is a Vietnamese chain of Gyumaru, a famous restaurant in Fukuoka, I think it is acceptable.
I visited alone on a Saturday evening and ordered the meal below.
Mix Grill(170g): 290,000VND
Shrimp Croquette: 68,000VND
Frontera Cabernet Sauvignon Decanter: 280,000VND
At 638,000VND plus 8% general VAT and 10% liquor VAT, total was 694,640VND. Considering the prices in Vietnam, it may not be cheap, but there is a great advantage in being able to eat hamburg steak from Gyumaru, a famous restaurant in Fukuoka, Japan, in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, at a reasonable price. It is a famous restaurant frequented by not only Japanese and Koreans but also Vietnamese locals due to its delicious food and generous portions.
