#1. District 1, Le Thanh Ton Japanese Chinese Cuisine Chuuka Dining Nada Review
Chuuka Dining Nada, a Japanese Chinese Cuisine Restaurant, is located in Le Thanh Ton Japanese Town, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. Since the restaurant is on the second floor, it is not noticeable, so the Japanese owner is always eagerly soliciting customers at the entrance.
If you take the elevator up to the second floor, you will see a cute restaurant. There are kitchen and bar tables near the entrance to the restaurant, and there are a few tables inside. More than 90% of the guests here are Japanese, and it is rare to see Vietnamese locals or other foreigners.
On this day, I wanted to drink shochu and highball with Japanese-style Chinese food, so I ordered it. A glass of shochu called Akakirishima Imo, which is made from sweet potatoes and had a sweet aroma and taste that was quite appealing.
The first dish was Mabodofu Danburi(Mabo Tofu Rice Bowl). The mapo tofu rice bowl was served with a dark brown udon soup made with katsuobushi and tsuyu, which was quite nice.
The visual appearance of Japanese mapo tofu rice bowl is similar to that of China, but unlike Chinese mapo tofu, which has a strong spicy and spice flavor, it has little spicy taste and has a more sweet and salty taste. Although it is definitely different from Chinese Sichuan style, I was able to fully feel the charm of Japanese mapo tofu rice bowl.
For my second dish, I ordered Subuta(Sweet and Sour Pork). Unlike Chinese sweet and sour pork, it uses a ketchup-based sauce. It was quite good, with the texture of carrots, green peppers, and onions still intact, and the fluffy fried pork.
Chuuka Dining Nada is a charming restaurant that offers a variety of Japanese-Chinese dishes at reasonable prices. The taste is clean and the portions are plentiful, so if you like Japanese-style Chinese food, this is a place worth visiting.
#2. Japanese Chinese cuisine Chuuka Dining Nada Menu
Chuuka Dining Nada's menu is entirely written in Japanese and Chinese characters, and what is written in English is the Japanese pronunciation, so ordering can be quite difficult if you don't know Japanese. Fortunately, there are pictures of the food, so you can order by looking at the pictures. The prices are overall a bit cheaper than other Japanese restaurants nearby.
I visited alone for dinner on a Friday evening and ordered the following.
Mabodofu Donburi(Mapo Tofu Rice Bowl): 140,000VND
Subuta(Sweet and Sour Pork): 130,000VND
Highball: 70,000VND
Akakirishima Imo Glass: 120,000VND
I was able to enjoy Japanese-style Chinese food for a total of 500,600VND, including 8% general VAT and 10% alcohol VAT. Chuuka Dining Nada is a restaurant where you can taste clean, generous portions of Japanese-style Chinese food at reasonable prices. It is definitely a place worth visiting for those who like Japanese-style Chinese food.
