#1. District 1, Le Thanh Ton Chanko Nabe Restaurant Tokitsunada Review
Tokitsunada, a chanko nabe restaurant, is located opposite the famous izakaya Torisho in Le Thanh Ton Japanese Town, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. Tokitsunada is one of the few nabe restaurants in Ho Chi Minh City that serves high-quality Chanko Nabe(Sumo Stew), so it is a restaurant worth visiting if you like hotpot style food.
There are tables for eating on the first and second floors of Tokitsunada, but smoking is only allowed on the second floor, perhaps because there is a kitchen on the first floor. So, for those who do not smoke, it is recommended to take a seat on the first floor.
On a Saturday evening, my friend and I visited Tokitsunada for chanko nabe. As soon as we were seated, we ordered two servings of chanko nabe. The broth for the hearty nabe containing pork, chicken, chicken meatballs, bean sprouts, onions, radishes, carrots, green onions, chives, enoki mushrooms, and shiitake mushrooms can be selected from salt, soy sauce, miso, and curry, but I chose soy sauce.
Since the burner's power is strong and it cooks quickly, you need to reduce the heat when it is properly cooked to prevent the broth from drying out too much. Because the sweet and salty soy sauce(Shoyu) broth has a strong taste, it is good as a side dish with alcohol, and it is also good to eat with rice and noodles.
When you order chanko nabe, you can use the long chopsticks and ladle provided to you and take an appropriate amount into the bowl in front of you and let it cool before eating. Broth is refilled for free, and if you run out of food, you can order each ingredient, including pork, meatballs, and vegetables, one by one, so you can add them into broth.
Highball and plum sake both go well with chanko nabe. The highball wasn't bad, but the sweet and sour plum sake was particularly good at cutting through the greasiness and leaving a clean finish.
#2. Chanko Nabe Restaurant Tokitsunada Menu
Tokitsunada, a chanko nabe restaurant, serves nabe as its main dish and serves a variety of Japanese snacks such as sashimi and egg rolls. Because chanko nabe contains a variety of ingredients and is quite large, the price is a bit high, but the taste is definitely great.
My friend and I visited on a Saturday evening and ordered the meal below.
Chanko Nabe Shoyu: 290,000VND x 2 EA = 580,000VND
Kaku Highball: 120,000VND x 2 EA = 240,000VND
Plum Sake: 90,000VND
Nama Orange Sour: 65,000VND
Including general VAT of 8% and liquor VAT of 10%, the amount came to 1,060,900VND. Tokitsunada is one of the few nabe restaurants in Ho Chi Minh City that serves high-quality Chanko Nabe(Sumo Stew), so it is a restaurant worth visiting if you like hotpot style food.
