#1. District 1, Detroit-Style Pizza LAMIE PIZZA Review
LAMIE PIZZA, a Detroit-style pizza restaurant, is located in an alley with many barbershops across from Ben Thanh Market in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. The store is located in an inconspicuous alley, so you may hard to find on your first visit. It is one of the few Detroit-style pizza restaurants in downtown Ho Chi Minh City, and is almost the only charming restaurant where you can taste authentic Detroit-style pizza.
The owner of the store is a Vietnamese born in France. He lived in France for most of his life and moved to Vietnam 10 years ago to start a business. He originally worked as a store interior designer, but after quitting his job during the coronavirus pandemic, he decided to open a pizza restaurant.
In addition to beverages such as soda and juice, they also sell alcoholic beverages such as Saigon Lager, San Miguel, and Vietnamese craft beer. Saigon Lager, which has a nutty and refreshing taste without any special flavor, goes well with foods like pizza.
On this day, I ordered the Full Pie Medium, which gives me a choice of four slices of pizza. Clockwise from the top right: UGOTBEEF(mozzarella cheese, minced beef, caramelized onion, white sauce, bell pepper), ITALIAN SAUSAGE(tomato sauce, mozzarella/cheddar cheese, Italian sausage, shallot, basil pesto), 4 BROS(tomato sauce, mozzarella/cheddar/emmental/ricotta cheese, honey), MOTOWN(tomato sauce, mozzarella/cheddar cheese, pepperoni). Here, I added jalapeno as an extra topping and ayoli as a dipping sauce.
All four pizzas I chose were delicious, but I liked the pepperoni pizza MOTOWN and the cheese pizza 4 BROS the best. In particular, 4 BROS was overwhelmingly delicious as the flavors of various cheeses and the spicy and fresh taste of the added jalapeno went well together. I was able to enjoy pizza even more by sprinkling chili sauce and ayoli sauce on it.

LAMIE PIZZA sells Detroit-style pizzas, dipping sauces, and sides such as salad and French fries. A slice of pizza costs 60,000VND, a 4-slice plate(Medium) costs 225,000VND, and a 6-slice plate(Large) costs 325,000VND. This is a restaurant where you can enjoy authentic Detroit-style pizza at a fairly reasonable price.
I visited alone during lunch time on a Sunday and ordered the meal below.
Full Pie Medium: 225,000VND (UGOTBEEF, ITALIAN SAUSAGE, MOTOWN, 4 BROS)
Aioli Dip Sauce: 22,000VND
Jalapenos: 30,000VND
Saigon Larger: 40,000VND x 2 EA = 80,000VND
For a total of 357,000VND, I was able to fill my stomach with a variety of Detroit-style pizzas. LAMIE PIZZA is one of the few Detroit-style pizza restaurants in downtown Ho Chi Minh City, and is almost the only charming restaurant where you can taste authentic Detroit-style pizza. If you like pizza, this is definitely a place worth visiting.
