#1. District 1, Cantonese Restaurant SAN FU LOU Review
Cantonese restaurant SAN FU LOU operates nearly ten stores in downtown Ho Chi Minh City alone, including districts 1, 2, 3, 7, Phu Nhuon, Tan Binh, and Go Vap. You can taste a variety of Hong Kong cuisine at a reasonable price, and it also serves dim sum even in the evening, and the store located in AB Tower in District 1 is open until 2:30 am, making it a very attractive restaurant.
I visited the SAN FU LOU AB Tower branch, which is open until 2:30 am, to have a late dinner with my family after 9 pm on a Sunday night. It has a Chinese-style interior that looks quite luxurious, and it is a two-story restaurant, so the inside of the restaurant is considerably larger than it looks.
Warm tea goes really well with oily Chinese food. I ordered a large size of jasmine tea. They provided tea cups according to the number of people, and it was enough for four people to drink. If you run out of tea, you can refill hot water for free, so just tell the staff.
The first dish I ordered was Pork & Prawn Wonton. These wontons filled with pork and shrimp in a salty and sour sauce are simply delicious. This is one of SAN FU LOU's popular menu items and I order it every time I visit.
The second dish I ordered was Sauteed Chinese Broccoli with Sauce. I usually order stir-fried green beans with pork or stir-fried bok choy, but on this day I ordered this. Vegetables are also stir-fried with oil and sauce, so they are delicious.
The third food I ordered was Wok-fried Flat Noodle with Slice Beef. Every time I visit, I order shrimp fried rice or this. Ingredients such as beef, flat noodles, bean sprouts, green onions, and onions are stir-fried with soy sauce and oyster sauce.
The fourth dish I ordered was Scallop & Prawn Dumplings. This is a regular menu item at dim sum restaurants, with shrimp balls inside a thin dumpling skin and topped with scallops and flying fish roe.
The fifth dish I ordered was Prawn Dumplings(Ha Cao). It is a very basic dim sum that we are familiar with, with a thin dumpling skin filled with shrimp balls. The shrimp used at SAN FU LOU were large, fresh, so it was quite delicious.
The sixth dish I ordered was Prawn Rice Flour Rolls. Also known as Chang Fun, it is one of SAN FU LOU's popular dim sums made with plump minced shrimp meat wrapped in soft and chewy rice dough and steamed.
The seventh dish I ordered was Cantonese Fried Spring Rolls. It is my favorite dim sum which is shrimp meatballs wrapped in thin rice paper and fried. Dipped in mayo sauce, It's really delicious.
The eighth dish I ordered was Chicken Feet with Black Bean Sauce. It is coated with black bean sauce and steamed so that the seasoning is well absorbed. When I put it in my mouth, the bones and meat separated smoothly. Although it wasn't as good as DIM TU TAC's chicken feet, it was still tasty enough.
The ninth dish I ordered was Mango Pudding with Boba. A carp-shaped mango pudding is placed inside the bubble tea. Looks cute, so it's great to order for kids.
The tenth dish I ordered was Jujube, Lotus Seeds, and Snow Fungus. This dessert, as the name suggests made with jujube, lotus seeds, and snow fungus in a cool, slightly sweet soup, was a good way to end after eating fatty food.
Cantonese restaurant SAN FU LOU not only offers a variety of Hong Kong dishes at reasonable prices, but is also open late at night(AB Tower branch) and serves dim sum even in the evening, making it an even more attractive restaurant.
